Loon Lookout is an A-Frame cottage with views of the lake on one side and a wooded area on the other. Although you are able to see other cottages from Loon Lookout, it is perfect for a single family getaway or as an additional home to other rented cottages. Sleeping between 4-6 persons, the A-frame home has a simple kitchen, comes with a 14' aluminum boat for guests to enjoy, your own picnic table and of course your own private dock. Feel free to bring your own kayaks or canoes to drop in the water! In addition, there are a couple of adirondack chairs to relax in as your roast your marshmallows over your private portable fire pit or the communal fire pit.

NettieBay is a great place to bring the family to enjoy your vacation. The outdoor fire pit, shared by all guests, is just the right spot for evening songs and storytelling. Lake Nettie is known as a wonderful fishing lake. Species of fish include: pan fish (blue gill, sun fish, rock bass, black crappie), small mouth bass, large mouth bass, northern pike, perch and the occasional walleye. If fly fishing is your passion, enjoy one of the many nearby streams of fish or the secluded 23 acre bullhead lake full of large mouth bass/large sun fish. Enjoy swimming, kayaking, canoeing, boating on the bay. Also, you can take a nature hike through 2000 private acres and enjoy wildlife viewing. All available to you while staying with us in your lakeside cottage.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Air Condition: No

ATV's: Yes! They are allowed on the property and there are miles and miles of trails nearby in which you can also explore! You can also travel along the shoulder of the county road (legally!).

Animals: Lots of bird watching here, deer of course, and small game (pheasant, turkey, etc.)

Bathroom:  1 full bathroom

Beach/Swimming:  Private beach area steps away. The layout is as follows: the grass--a couple feet of sand--and the sandy-bottomed beach. There is a bit of a sandy play area for the kiddos to enjoy!

       Master Bedroom upstairs --1 Full
       Bedroom #2 upstairs -- 2 Twins
       Family Room -- Queen Sleeper Sofa

Boats: 1 row boat (14ft.) provided during your stay

Cell phone service: Pretty good!

Distances:
              * Soo Locks: 2 hours (120 minutes)
              * Traverse City: 2 ½ hours (129 miles)
              * Tahquamenon Falls State Park: 2 hours 30 minutes (139 miles)
              * Mackinac Bridge: 1 ½ hours ( 78 miles)

Grocery Store: 5 miles up the road

Internet: There is wi-fi in which guests can access while sitting on the Lodge patio. Signals in cabins are spotty depending on your provider. There is an 8ft. awning on the patio in case of bad weather. If you plan on "working" while on vacation, I would not recommend this property as the signal is temperamental!

Linens: Yes, we provide your sheets and linens. Just like a hotel, the beds will be made for you upon arrival. If you are fussy about the thread count of your sheets, just let me know, and I’ll make sure we leave a bed open for your sheets. The Lodge: The Lodge is off limits to guests. However, guests can rent it out. For example, If you rent, let's say 4 cabins, but want your whole group to all eat inside one day together, you are able to rent out the space (kitchen included) for $100 a day.

Parking: Onsite free parking. There is plenty of space for trucks and trailers!

Playground: There is a small playground area for all the children of NettieBay to play on!

Snowmobiles: YES! They are welcomed and encouraged during the winter months! Our main trail is a mile from the Lodge and can be accessed from the Lodge.

Space:  There are a total of 8 cabins. Rent one or rent a few.

Towels: Yes, we provide towels.  It's always good to bring extra though.

View: You do have a view of other cottages on the property

Washer and dryer:  There is a washer and dryer facility on-site that guests can use for a few quarters! The laundry access is on the west side of the Lodge (gray door). The laundry facility is open from 9am-4pm.

Wood: Wood can be purchased at the nearby store, brought by guests, collected from the nearby forests by guests, or bought on-site.

Beautiful escape!
We had such a wonderful time. This place is a true get away! No cellular, limited wifi, tucked in the woods right on the lake! AMAZING! The cottage was clean and had plenty of space. The row boat was fun. Fire ring for a beautiful night fire. I wish I had more time there. Owners are super nice and very helpful. We are looking forward to returning :)

FRESHWATER RESPONSE:

Robert, we so appreciate that you fully enjoyed NettieBay Resort-Loon Lookout.  With views of both the lake and the woods, this property is certainly special.  We look forward to seeing you again.

Quiet and Relaxing
The cabin was very clean. The site was beautiful. I loved seeing the hearing the loons. It was also a perfect 'home base'. The bridge only 30 minutes away. We traveled to Mackinac Island and the Dark Sky Park one day. Sault Ste Marie another day. Our family of 5 even survived one bathroom for the week! The caretakers, Mark and Jackie, were gracious, polite and helpful.

FRESHWATER RESPONSE:

Nettie Bay Resort--Loon Lookout is a pretty special place to stay.  You can not beat the convenience to the sites of the U.P., and then of course there are those lovely loons.  We hope to see you back again, Renee.

Nettie bay resort loon lookout
What a great experience all around! A beautiful lake 15’ from your deck and a clean well kept A frame to stay with family or friends. Mark the owner is on site and very welcoming, knowledgeable proud of his resort and home town. As soon as I find out the dates for next year’s event I will be making reservations, and bringing lots of friends!

FRESHWATER RESPONSE:

We love that you enjoyed yourself at the Loon Lookout.  It is such a sweet property.  I especially love how it is situated on the land, and  I hope that you were able to use the firepit.  Looking forward to hearing from you for future bookings!

Great place!
Enjoyed our stay very much! Perfect, quiet setting. Only complaint is there wasn’t much to watch on the tv. Other than that it was a perfect getaway spot!
