Cozy up to Manistee Lake in this quaint, cottage-- ideal for a couple traveling with older children, teens or friends. Manistee Lake captures your attention everywhere you turn. This waters edge property is both comfortable and an easy departure point to explore Northern Michigan.
Drive up just feet from the cottage door and easily walk through the front door into the living room. Enjoy the ease of the living room, with traditional cable tv + streaming as you relax at the shoreline. Step right into the kitchen to both prep your meal and enjoy eating with the water-view at all times. This Queen bedroom also enjoys the water view. Being directly across from the bathroom adds to the ease of this cottage. Plus, this unique shower (no tub) gives you a feel of being Up North. The additional bedroom is just ten (10 feet) behind the main cottage.
Enjoy the morning sunrise across the lake as you sip your coffee on the patio. While the cottage itself is small, it's heart is big with openness you feel along Manistee Lake. The neighbors are within earshot, so this is a place for a couple, or small family/friend group who enjoy fun on the quieter side.

Air Conditioning: 3 window units (1 for each bedroom (2) + living room/ kitchen)
ATV's: YES—No problem—1 trailer (behind yellow house- between split rail fence and grey shed)
Animals: squirrels, chipmunks, etc.
Bathrooms: 1 bathroom (shower only) in main house
Beach/Swimming: While technically possible, the swimming in front of the house is not ideal. It can be mucky.
Traditional beach swimming: Sands Park –Playground, sandy Beach and Park (1/2 mile) Nearby on Manistee Lake.
Bedroom Configurations:1 bedrooms inside—
Main Cottage: 1- Queen (inside, across from the bathroom)
Bunkhouse (approx. 10 feet from Main Cottage): 2 Queen Beds (No bathroom in the bunkhouse)
Boats: 5 kayaks (1 sit-in and 4 sit-upon) including life jackets (in bin)
Boat Launch: Sands Park (no Michigan State Park sticker needed)- 1/2 mile from cottage.
Bugs: Mosquitos—While we will be spraying in an attempt to limit the mosquitos, being so close to the water will definitely bring mosquitos, especially at dusk or at night. Please bring your bug spray if you are at all sensitive.
Cable: YES! Dish Network (You don't just have to steam here, though that is an option too.)
Cell Phone Service: Good
Coffee Maker: Keurig only (some K-cups are provided, yet please bring your own for the duration of your stay)

Detroit- 226 miles (3 hours- 18 minutes)
Lansing- 167 miles (2 hours- 29 mins)
Sands Park (swimming/ boat launch)- 0.5 miles (1 minute)
Torch Lake - 39 miles (47 mins)
Traverse City- 34 miles (45 minutes)
Dock: Shared-- This is a shared dock with the lakehouse next door. You are assigned the left hand side of the dock. You can tie your boat up. Please remember to bring your ropes! We do not have a hoist.
Drinking Water: well water
Drugs/Smoking/Fireworks: Freshwater does not permit illegal drugs of any kind on the property. Due to the location of the properties, smoking is strongly discouraged around the home and strictly prohibited in the home. Fireworks are prohibited at a Freshwater location for the safety of all persons in and around the property, even if it is legal in that city.
Fireplace: None
Firewood: While there may be some on the property, please prepare to pick some up along the way, or walk/drive over to Waters Edge Gas and Party Store, right around the corner.
Fishing: Great for Walleye, Perch, typical pan fish, Sunfish, Bluegill
Fishing License: A license is required to fish in Michigan.
Fishing Poles: Bring your own— You can purchase worms at the nearby Waters Edge Gas and Party Store.
Golf:
Grandview Golf Club (3.8 miles)
Timber Wolf Golf Club , on MI-72 ( 5.9 miles)
Grill: Propane (back-up in shed)
Grocery Store: Mini-Mart walking, Subs and Pizza great! Dollar General- 10 minutes, Kalkaska grocery. Gas Station- ice cream
Handicap Friendly: 1 small step to enter. 1 level ranch.
Heat: Electric space heaters + baseboard heat
Hunting: No hunting on property—Michigan State land within 2 miles. (Cottage closes in September, so no deer or bear hunting.)
Internet/WIFI: Spectrum
Linens: Yes, we provide your sheets and linens. Just like a hotel, the beds will be made for you upon arrival. We have just the basic sheets, pillows, pillowcases, and bath towels.
Parking: 2 cars MAX or 1 trailers/1trucks MAX
If you are bringing a trailer, please let us know so make sure we can ensure you have enough space.
Pets: Not allowed
Privacy: Cottages right next door.
Snowmobiles: While Michigan weather can be unpredictable, snowmobiling between May and September is unlikely a possibility.
Space: Ranch-style cottage with 1 bedroom inside and an additional bunk house behind with 1 bedroom (2 Queen beds). Must be willing to walk 10 feet at at night if anyone may need the bathroom from the bunk-house.
Special Features:bunk-house is ideal for teens or when traveling with another couple. While there is not a bathroom in the bunkhouse, it is only a short 10 foot walk to the main cottage.
Seniors: many flat surfaces
Televisions: 1 TV in living room + 1 in bunk house
Towels: All bath and kitchen towels will be provided during your stay, including 6 beach towels.
Washer and Dryer: NO- Pocket Change Laundromat is the closest at 13 minutes (9.7 miles)
Wood: Gas station- Waters Edge Gas and Party Store (within view/ easy walk of the cottage)
