HARBOR PINES: quaint 1 room (including mini-kitchen area), 1 bath in Eagle Harbor

Harbor Pines-
Named in honor of the wonderful pines in the area and the glorious breeze that comes in off of Lake Superior, which, along with the Light House, are right out the back door!

This is a one bedroom home that has a king-size bed. Harbor Pines also has a bathroom with a single shower and a small kitchen area that includes ONLY a mini-fridge, a microwave and a coffee pot.

A message from the owners:
“At the turn of the century, our great-grandparents emigrated from Scandinavia and settled in the Keweenaw Peninsula, not only building a new life for themselves, but literally building many of the churches, schools, stores, and homes in the area. Of course, many childhood memories include swimming in Lake Superior, picking thimble berries, grilling fresh-caught fish, and watching for bears and wildlife in this magical place.
We fell in love with these 4 cottages because they belonged to the original Lake Breeze Resort in Eagle Harbor. Built in the 1920’s, this resort had 15 cottages that sat on “The Hill” overlooking the harbor. As time went on, some of the cottages were sold, and we now find ourselves lucky enough to own four."

Picnic Tables: There are picnic tables near for everyone to enjoy.

Privacy:  All four cottages are right next to each other.

Swimming: Swimming is definitely recommended at the beautiful beach!  There are rafts available in the cottage for you to use.

TV’s- There are new TV’s in every cottage.

Washer & Dryer:  There is not a washer & dryer at the property. There are 2 laundry mats in Calumet (30 miles south), and so many things to do, see and eat while you wait for your laundry.

Wi-Fi:  Consider it a bonus, NOT an expectation, if you are able to connect to the WiFi.  We have tried everything in our power, yet the area just doesn't have consistent WiFi yet. The WFi is shared by all 4 cottages, therefore, it is intermittent at times.  It is VERY basic WiFi.

Perfect little cabin!
We loved our stay in this perfect little cabin. The location was perfect for day trips throughout the Keweenaw to explore and see fall colors. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. We had no idea the lighthouse was practically in the yard! How cool is that? We really enjoyed our stay and hope to make a return visit soon!

Barbara, it sounds like you had a  great time!  It is so beautiful there this time of year.  It was a pleasure hosting you, and we do hope that you come back again!

Small but Nice
The cabin is small, but it was very functional for our needs. It did have a small fridge and microwave and it was nice to have a shower. The wi-fi worked fine while we were there and the area is beautiful. If it had been warm and sunny, we probably would have been in the water at the beach around the corner. The only negative would be the bed. It is considered a king, but it was actually two full beds pushed together with a foam strip down the center to connect them. The sheets could use an upgrade as well. We would still recommend the cabin, however. A good home base for exploring the area.

Kerry, we love knowing that you enjoyed staying at Harbor Pines, and thank you for the recommendation.  We will let the owners know your suggestions about the sheets.  We enjoyed having you as our guest and hope to see you again soon.

Cabin 8
We had a fantastic time staying at your cabin in Eagle harbor. It was exactly what we had hoped for. It was the perfect place to land after a busy day out enjoying the beauty of Northern Michigan, and for just hanging around on a lazy Sunday afternoon. We will cherish the memories of our stay. Thank you again! Harvey and Lisa

Comfy and Quiet
We enjoyed the property and amenities. Everything was well stocked with exception of the charcoal as advertised.. The bed was a little soft (well used). Also parking was tight. There really was a lot packed in this little cottage and located within walking distance to the beach, church, the museum, and even the restaurant where we purchased ice.

Freshwater Vacation Rentals Response
Peggy, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Eagle Harbor- Harbor Pines.  This is a small but mighty vacation spot.  The beautiful sandy beach is perfect for swimming, and even has an old-fashioned slide, plus each cottage has beach chairs and beach bags for the guests to use.  We apologize for the misunderstanding about the charcoal for the grill.  Guests do need to supply their own charcoal.  We hope to see you back again.
