It does not get much better than this in Macatawa! This 2-story renovated home directly faces the Marina on Macatawa Lake. Boat gawkers beware! This home backs up to a forest/dune setting. Tazelaar Cottage is a completely renovated home, hosting 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a lovely garden area for you to sit back and unwind. Sleeping 8-10 guests, with no additional visitors allowed on the property, Tazelaar is big enough for 2 small families to enjoy. Walk down ¼ mile to the sandy beach on Lake Michigan, nearby walking trails, or the Big Red Lighthouse!
The propane grill, fire pit, 2 decks (one wood, one cement) and ample amount of outdoor seating makes entertaining in this home a joy. There is a small yard behind the cottage, which overlooks the marina and Lake Macatawa. Tazelaar's Cottage is a just a nice 5-10 minute stroll away from Lake Michigan.
Tazelaar Cottage comes with a washer/dryer, fully-equipped kitchen, central air conditioning, and gorgeous views. Also, JUST INSTALLED-MARCH 2020-- REME HALO Air filtration/purification system. Beach/Swimming: There is swimming on Lake Michigan, which is a ¼ mile away. You can only access the private beach by walking. There is no parking allowed near the beach. There is a beach “rolling” wagon for guests to place goodies/cooler in to travel down to the beach and beach chairs available. You will walk through the Macatawa gateway which is 1 block away, check in with the gate attendant and then proceed down to the beach.

Extra beds--There is also a Queen sofa sleeper in the common area and a day bed in the den.
Bike Rentals- We currently do not have bicycles at the property that are suitable for Geust use. We do have a great electric bike rental partner who can drop off/pick up electric bikes from the property. If you are interested, please inquire for more information.
Best Bakery: Deboer Bakkerij 360 Douglas Ave 49424 616-396-2253. This is not your typical bakery. Amazing breakfasts.
Cable/Satellite TVs: On the upper floor of the home, there is a TV/DVD combination with cable. On the main floor, there is cable TV with a Fire-stick, so feel free to bring your Netflix account with you! If you don’t have one, no worries, just give us a call and we will provide you with one for your stay.
Cell phone service: Verizon is good…everything else a bit sketchy…Use wi-fi calling.
Coffee pot: There is a combo unit that has both traditional coffee maker and a Keurig.

Fishing: You can fish out on Pierhead which is right by the Big Red Lighthouse. Guests are unable to fish in the marina area.

Grill: There is a propane grill for guests to use during their stay which is located in the garden area. Propane will be provided.
Grocery Store: Just 2 miles away Central Park Grocery: 1158 S Shore Dr. Holland, MI 49423 (616) 335-8442 It's small specialty grocery with a great meat market. The closest large grocery store is: Family Fare Supermarket 993 Butternut Dr, Holland, MI 49424 (616) 399-4440
Hot Tub: Now open year-round! Seating for 5 adults. Temperature is pre-set and cannot be adjusted.
Internet: YES! There is free wi-fi for guests
Linens: Yes, we provide your sheets and linens. Just like a hotel, the beds will be made for you upon arrival.
Parking: Right next to cottage, which is almost unheard of at Macatawa. There is enough space for 3 cars to park! NO additional community parking is available for visitors.
Pets: There are NO pets allowed on this property. Owner's have severe allergies. Please enjoy the animal-free space! Freshwater Vacation Rentals has many other pet-friendly places for you to enjoy your stay with your dog. Please ask for details.
Privacy: There are homes next door and a marina in front of the home.
Smoking: No smoking allowed of any kind, on the property. Due to the close proximity of the neighbors, it is strictly prohibited.
Snowmobiling: Not the ideal place for snowmobiling. Cannot ride from house to trails. Best to leave those home and enjoy the amazing views of Lake Macatawa!
Space: Modern, Crisp-lines, Clean!
Towels: Yes, we provide towels, even some beach towels…but it's always good to bring extra though.
Washer and dryer: YES! It is on the first floor. Laundry detergent and dry sheets will be provided for guests.
Wood: A bundle of wood will be waiting for guests. If more wood is needed, the guest is required to purchase wood from a nearby store.

Accidental Damage Waiver (non-refundable) or Security Deposit (Refundable)
We’ve got you covered…. We have an accidental damage waiver fee attached to your booking for true ACCIDENTAL damage. You are covered up to $1500 for any breakage/ spills, damage that occurs accidently at the home. Please let us know if any damage arises and we can process the replacements or repair.
In lieu of the Accidental Damage Waiver, if you would prefer to mail a $1500 check in lieu of the accidental damage waiver, you may do so as your refundable security deposit. Upon inspection of the home, we will refund the balance after deducting any damage that occurred during your stay.

Cleaning Fees Explained:
a. Cleaning fees booked directly through Freshwater Vacation Rentals are NOT taxable. (This is a way to save you $$.)
b, Even though our room rate is generally less per night during the Spring, Fall and Winter, no one wants the cleaning quality to decrease.
c. We expect our cleaners to clean at the same level they would for the Peak Summer season, year-round.
d. We pay our cleaners a living wage. They deep clean, wash all the linens and prep each bed, regardless of how many people are on the reservation.
Perspective:
a. When a couple is staying at a large house, and using only 25% of it, do they really want the home cleaned only 25%? Of course not.
b. When considering how many beds will be used, there are many variables-- Who are couples? Just friends? Family? Do all couples sleep in the same bed? Who snores?
c. Yes, sometimes the cleaner will make more money on your stay than the property owner or management company. It is essential to keep the space fresh and consistently cleaned throughout the year.

We have stayed at multiple places of Freshwater and we always have a phenomenal stay and Tazaleer Cottage was added to the list. The view was beautiful! The location was great and close to both Holland and Saugatuck. The amenities were excellent and had a hot tub which was a bonus! We will definitely be back

Everything was perfect! The location was great, and the Tazelaar was amazing! Girls' weekend was everything we could have hoped for, and it was due to our great home away from home!

Lovely
Tazelaar Cottage is just lovely. Our group of 6 loved all the nooks and crannies of the space and how comfortable it was for us. The robes, towels & chocolates on beds, welcome snacks, stocked kitchen along with location and views were just fantastic. Rental was clean and the check out instructions were very reasonable. The only non positive I have is that there was only enough foil to cover one sheet pan and we were out. Would’ve been nice to have a backup roll, but we were also happy to have the kitchen stocked with as much as it was. So happy to have come across this rental and this company!

Charming cottage!
Our family has stayed at numerous vacation rentals throughout the US and Taz Cottage was by far one of the best! The location is perfect, the home is very comfortable and clean! There are so many amenities and the host communicates extremely well. I would give 10 stars if I could!

Girls Getaway
Five close friends came here for a two night stay in October. The cottage was extremely well kept and "over the top" clean! Super cute touches throughout with seasonal decorations and plenty of blankets/throw pillows for relaxing on the furniture. There was an abundance of blankets, pillows, towels, and things such as toilet paper, paper towels, coffee, tea, and even a few great snacks left for us by the owners. Beautiful view from the front rooms out to the marina. There is plenty of room here to spread out and would definitely be comfortable for a larger group than ours. Hot tub looked nice but we didn't use and there are also beach chairs, wagon, bikes, and a fire pit.It's a short walk to the beach and definitely just a short drive to surrounding attractions. This was a cozy, place and we definitely said we would stay here again if coming back to this area for a long weekend. Fresh Water Vacation Rentals stays in contact through the entire rental process and they were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely rent through them again! Thank you Mary and Charlie for your hospitality!

We enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and they provided several extras which may the stay even better. But the best part of our stay was the view from the porch/deck as it was stunning. The weather cooperated which made getting outdoors perfect. We would recommend staying at the Tazelaar and would definitely consider coming back!

Very nice all around
The house was clean and well stocked with linens and even some snacks. The view of the marina was great and super close to the beach. Definitely recommend, especially if you have a larger group to accommodate.

Comfort of Home
This is the second year that we’ve spent several days here…and the quality and comfort has been perfect. We loved the fully stocked kitchen, like a comfort of home and so convenient for meals together in this spacious property. There is more than enough room and privacy for us to check in on work and ‘office’ in comfort as well. The gem, for us was the hot tub. After a walk on the beach, which was beautiful even on a chilly March day, the hot tub was perfectly clean and cozy. The entire rental was spotless and even had a few treats to greet us during our stay.

Best vacation rental I've EVER had!
I was blown away with the Tazelaar cottage. It exceeded my expectations in every way. There were so many personal touches that made this rental truly a magical place to stay. The space was very clean and spacious. The views were outstanding, and the evenings in the hot tub was the cherry on top. I would highly recommend this place. I pray we get to return someday in the near future!

Tazelaar Cottage was the perfect stay for our winter getaway. It was very clean and the hosts made our stay extra special with a few small touches (Michigan wine and cheese waiting for us, chocolate on the pillows, etc). The hot tub was perfect and one day we saw three deer walking past the property. Highly recommended!

Love this Place!
We've stay here twice, and both times we've had an amazing experience. About the cottage itself: it is an older house with 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, a couple of reading nooks, and a well-appointed kitchen. It also has a great patio and fire pit. Wait! Did I mention the hot tub?!? This place also boasts access to the private beach and lighthouse on the south side of the inlet to Lake Macatawa. The hosts are super friendly and accessible. They answer the phone to resolve any issues that you may encounter. We will definitely be back!

Amazing!
We are a group of retired high school teachers who always choose to go somewhere the week after Labor Day when school is typically starting. This property proved to be an excellent choice; it was very clean and the location really worked for us. It is an older home but everything was clean and in perfect condition from the furniture, the appliances, the housewares to the linens and the grounds. With five ladies, the lighting in the bathrooms and the water pressure could have been better but did not pose any major difficulties. The owners provided many nice and thoughtful touches--fresh flowers, wine, cheese sausage, bottled water and a variety of snack items. Our only suggestion would be to provide a printed channel guide for the cable TV. It would have made it so much easier than scrolling through the lengthy guide on the TV. In summary, we would recommend this property if this is the area you are at for a vacation stay.

Family time
Tazelaar cottage was the perfect place for our family to get together. It was by far the best appointed rental I have stayed in-lots of welcome treats to make our stay special. Access to the beach was easy. The outside space was cute and functional making it a great alternative for socializing and meals. Hot tub and seating overlooking sidewalk with view of marina and lake macatawa was a wonderful addition.

Great Stay
We had a wonderful time. The house was super clean and the added touches were appreciated. It snowed two nights we were there, and the drive was shoveled and our car was brushed off before we left in the morning. Getting out to the beach and lighthouse was a great experience.

Charming with Stunning views
We absolutely loved our stay at Tazelaar!! The charm of the olden days made us feel so cozy and gave a great opportunity to show our children many of the items, etc that we’ve talked and read about! enjoyable relaxing view of Sailboat Marina
Charming, clean, cottage has great history, nice area, short walk to the beach and Big Red Lighthouse. Outdoor space is small, but fine for 4 around fire pit. nice location for day trips to all the Lake Michigan towns in South West Michigan.

Everything was well thought out at the cottage. Plenty of supplies and helpful notes. The only note to mention is in the second bedroom upstairs there is a security light that is motion activated. Every time you move in bed the light goes on.

Fabulous Cottage on Lake Macatawa
Tazelaar Cottage is the perfect vacation home. The location and view was fantastic.. about 5 minute fine to town and the view of the harbor was beautiful and serene. The Cottage itself was spacious, clean, and nicely decorated. There wetter so many amenities: coffee, snacks, games, bikes, wood for outdoor fire pit, 2 gas fireplaces inside and 2 full bathrooms. The beds were comfy and no issues with enough hot water and no issues with the heating unit. The photos are a perfect depiction of the Cottage. And although we did not meet the owners who apparently live near by, we received a nice thank you note the day we departed. There is a nice biography of the family and the history of the Cottage. We felt right at home. This Cottage could become a relaxing yearly vacation destination. The four of us throughly enjoyed our time at the cottage

A great place to stay!
My three sisters and I used to vacation in Holland with our family when we were young. We decided Holland would be a great destination for our inaugural sisters trip and we had a delightful time! The cottage was absolutely perfect. The location was wonderful and all the extra touches were appreciated. The cottage was very clean and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute we spent there.

Home away from home
It was the perfect (safe) spring break get-a-way place. The cottage was beautiful and accurately represented in the online photos. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meals the way we would at home. The view from the cottage was beautiful and entertaining. The short walk to the beach was refreshing and provided hours of family time. The company and caretakers were attentive and kind. Our children are already talking about the “next time”.

Beautiful home; beautiful location. We enjoyed this home and our stay for the long weekend break we needed. The home was very cozy and inviting. The hosts take great care to provided some many nice touches from the wine and snacks to the fire pit with wood provided. The walk to Lake Michigan and the Big Red lighthouse was nice. A lovely place for our get away
Although it rained for two days during our stay, the cozy house with 2 fireplaces and a direct view of the harbor made it very pleasant to be just relaxing indoors. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything to prepare dinners with nice serving wares. We did make a trip to Saugatuck on Saturday when it was finally sunny. The shopping and the walk to the dunes completed our 4 day weekend. We would'nt mind coming back to this cottage or other Freshwater Vacation Rentals again. They take care of their customers.

Great Cottage & Location
The property and hosts were fantastic. A lot of personal touches throughout the house and the hosts thought of everything to make it a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Plenty of space both inside and outside. We enjoyed the back porch for lunch and fire pit area at night. The home is nicely furnished with comfortable beds and furniture and the kitchen was well stocked including a kitchen aid mixer which made my daughters day! Bath towels and beach towels were nice quality. Loved having beach carts and bikes to haul stuff to the private beach, which was easy to access and absolutely beautiful. We really appreciated the fresh flowers when we arrived and the thank you note when we departed! We would absolutely stay here again!

Had a Wonderful time !! The owners left so many unexpected delights like snacks that made us feel so welcomed. This is at a beautiful location with lovely rooms and beautiful views . We really enjoyed the front porch to relax and take in the beautiful harbor. The back yard and the fire pit area are so private and especially magical at night. The short walk to the beach so nice with use of the wagon and chairs. Also a really lovely private beach during the day and with gorgeous sunsets at night. Our only regret was that we were there only for the weekend instead of the entire week!

We really enjoyed our stay at Tazelaar Cottage. It was very clean and decorated nicely. Lots of thoughtful touches! We rented a pontoon from the nearby rental and had a great time on both lakes. The private beach is so nice too!

Great Location. The view is like a painting.
Four adults stayed at the Tazelaar Cottage. We were welcomed with fresh flowers, a bottle of wine and some cheese & crackers and snacks. We fell in love with the view right away. We walked to Lake Michigan the first night but it was foggy, so we couldn't see the lighthouse. The next morning, I rode the bike up to the lake to see the sunrise and it was amazing! I was the only person out on our side of the lighthouse. I got amazing photos to remember our time spent there. As an amateur photographer, I loved the history of the home and all of the original books and decorations throughout the home. It rained on our third day, so I did a little photo shoot with some of the interesting items (binoculars, books.) The bedding was so nice, you felt as if you were at home. We spent time on the back patio watching the hummingbirds and the front porch watching the boats go by on the lake and loved seeing the marina. Would love to come back someday when the shops are open. 2020 hasn't been kind to merchants. Thank you for a wonderful getaway to celebrate our mother's 75th birthday.

Great Getaway!
We had a great two weeks at the cottage. The view of Lake Mac and the marina was perfect. We enjoyed some campfires and s’mores at night. Cannot day enough good things about the owners and rental company — we were very well taken care of! 100% recommend renting this great spot!!

Winter in Macatawa
Quiet and solitude, no traffic, if you don’t mind a little lake effect snow, this is a wonderful place to unwind. The gas fireplace is fantastic, modern kitchen, lots of hospitality extras. The view to the north shore of Lake Macatawa is unobstructed. Ducks, deer, seagulls. Love this place!!

Amazing location, amazing hospitality, and amazing staff. Will definitely use again. Place was clean and stylish. We stayed with a group of 9 and still had plenty of room. The indoor propane and electric fireplaces are amazing. The place does have central heating even though the listing says it doesn't. It worked great as well!!

The home was absolutely fantastic. Everything exceeded our expectations. A few of the girls are going to book vacation rentals with you next year. The home was so welcoming and homey. It is evident the owners take great pride in renting their home. The welcome basket and thank you care were over the top. Wonderful!
We had a wonderful time here and loved having the beach at Lake Michigan to our access. The owners were excellent and explained many points of interest around the community and Freshwater Vacation Rentals was always quick to respond and very helpful. the house was clean and provided us a beautiful place to stay and enjoy our first time visit to Holland...we will be back. Wife and I loved it!

I just wanted to follow up and tell you what a nice time we had in Holland this past weekend. My friend arranged for the rental on our behalf for a girls' weekend and we all had a lovely time. The little welcoming touches throughout the rental were noticed by all of us...right down to the note on the kitchen fridge/freezer telling us the ice cubes had just been made! It was so nice to rent a place that emphasized all the things they wanted us to take advantage of in the rental instead of "Don't do this..." or "Don't touch that..."! Clearly your clients are your focus. Keep up the good work

We very much enjoyed our stay . We loved the cottage, the location and all the amenities they provided. Anyone we spoke with regarding the rental was cordial. More than cordial . Warm and friendly. My only issue is when I reserve a place with a certain $ amount per night , how I get absolute sticker shock with the additional fees that don’t make much sense to me. It is something I will be checking more carefully in the future before completing my reservation . Maybe this is the norm now when dealing with rental companies. I just have not experienced it quite like this and we have rented several houses around the country.

Holland Paradise
Great property and wonderful host. Our host provided a nice care/welcome package for us. We love the beautiful views from the front porch over looking the Marina. Property had a lovely back porch and updated fire pit area as well. A bundle of wood was provided which was a very nice touch of hospitality. The home was furnished nicely and kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to cook a nice home style meal. Towels were of high quality. Been in hotels and other vacation rentals with cheap towels and it just bothers me, but not here. Loved having a beach cart to haul or stuff to the private beach, which was only a quarter mile if that away. Chairs and umbrella were provided as well from our host. Again nice features for guest. Additionally the property had a dish washer, washer/dryer combo, nice bathrooms, and well cared for interior and exterior of home.

Had a great weekend at Tazelaar Cottage! It is so clean and comfortable and the walking distance to Lake Michigan for a beautiful sunset was wonderful! Short drives to Holland and Saugatuk were also perfect for shopping for our girls getaway. Instructions and information from Freshwater Rental was very helpful and clearly understood. We can't wait to go back!
Our entire family enjoyed our time and can’t wait to return. The house is very well setup and has all the necessary amenities for a family with small children. We enjoyed the multi-patios, views of the boats, easy walk to the beach and Lake Michigan, plus access to Big Red. It is a great location for peaceful relaxation while still only being about 6 miles away from downtown Holland.

Amazing Vacays!
Everything was beyond expectations! I'm a planner at heart and planned an amazing vacations for my family. Without missing any details of it, I knew something always get slipped from plans. But, I was able to rest in the hands of this guys. From the details in the email before arriving to the house, fully equipped house, SPARKLING cleaned, enough towels for everyone, spacious and a welcome baskets (..and wine!). To the AMAZING view of the Lake Mac marina. With three kids and all the planning I was able to just relaxed and enjoy every moment of it. Thank you very much to FVR and the awesome hosts. Love it!

Great place, much bigger than it looks!
We had an awesome stay at Tazelaar Cottage! My family of four and our friends with the same size family all were very comfortable and there was plenty of room for the kids to play hide and seek ALL WEEKEND LONG while the adults had a fun time catching up. The cottage was INCREDIBLY well-stocked in both the kitchen and bathroom. If we make our way back to Holland in the future, Tazelaar and Freshwater will be high on our list!

WE WILL BE BACK
This is the second time I’ve rented this cottage, with two different groups of people. This is great for a group of friends in their late 20’s where we came to town to celebrate a birthday. It is also a great house for my boyfriend and I to come and stay with both of our set of parents (two in their 60’s and two in their 40’s) and a couple kids under 10. Every person in both groups loved this home and before we even left was asking when we were coming back to stay at this cottage. To say it is a home away from home would be an understatement. They have everything you could need here to make your run as smoothly as possible from comfy bens, relaxing fireplace, more than enough seating and a fully stocked kitchen. Lovely views and comfortable spaces
We stayed at the Tazelaar Cottage for a weekend in March, with lovely mild weather. The views out over the empty marina, seeing the lights across the lake were wonderful. The cottage is comfortable with more space than we were expecting, especially for only two of us. It has several living spaces which is great when you need some quiet time. We especially enjoyed the porch with the electric fire and many windows towards Lake Macatawa. (also enjoyed the gas fire in the living room) Everything was very clean, beds were comfortable, and towels were soft. The walk to the beach is short and easy, especially as we were only taking ourselves! The cottage is well-stocked with notes to help you find things and great instructions when needed. Definitely would stay here again.

This was my second stay at Taz Cottage. The off-season rates are reasonable, so I stayed 8 nights this time. I absolutely love the fireplace and living room. I was able to watch the NCAA Men's and Women's tournament games while I was there. Nice TV, too. The location at Macatawa is superb.

This cottage displays a lovely mix of modern conveniences and old fashioned nostalgia. There is a lot of Macatawa History in books and paintings and other art. The seasonal room with the stone fireplace is fascinating! The instructions and note signs around the cottage were very helpful. They left a note on the freezer stating the date of fresh ice - the day I checked - nice!! The kitchen ware and appliances are well stocked for those who want to cook in. The kitchen coffee, fridge and counter amenities were generous and up-scale. I especially appreciated the bathroom amenities in the "in case you forgot" basket. I will return!

A Thanksgiving to Remember
My family had the best stay in the Tazelaar Cottage. The house had so many amenities and they really thought of everything. The house was in a beautiful location and traffic was very light with the holiday weekend. The house itself was beautifully decorated, very cozy yet spacious, and the kitchen had all the appliances we could ask for to prepare a Thanksgiving feast for your family. We can't wait to come back during the summer months and enjoy the outside amenities and the wonderful community.

This was by the the best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed at. The location was lovely, the house immaculate, pretty, and have everything we needed and more plus outstandingly clean. Felt like home away from home. Everyone that was about of this trip was more than happy about this property. We will defiantly be back again.

The home was great. Very clean, and lots of nice extras, like snacks, chocolates on the pillows, bottle of wine. Great location close to the beach. We’d definitely recommend this place and consider staying here again.

The Tazelaar Cottage is fully and completely equipped with anything one could possibly need for a lakeside vacation. Comfortable, clean and spacious!

Absolutely beautiful area, wonderful home with great charm.
We came for a girls weekend. The house was in wonderful condition. Stocked with everything we might need or forgot. Super cute area for a fire or back/ front porch sitting. Walking distance to the beach. Short drive to downtown! We will definitely be coming back.

Excellent vacation cottage
We had an excellent time at the Tazelaar Cottage! Super clean house, stocked with everything you would need. Short drive downtown Holland. Quick walk to Lake Michigan! Will definitely be coming back.

Tazelaar Cottage is an amazing property. Beautiful views in all directions. So peaceful!
We found the Tazelaar Cottage to be beautiful and peaceful setting right on the water. Appreciated how clean it was and how well appointed the kitchen and bathrooms were. Back patio is very quaint and private while the front views of the marina cant be beat. The little signs around the house letting us know where things were or what they were used for were super helpful too. We would definitely stay here again! Thank you.

Great spot for people watching and located near historic homes. Short walk to great Lake Michigan beach and lighthouse. Everything you could need was provided. A great base for our stay and very well stocked for our every need

Beautiful home, thoughtfully decorated. We loved the fire pit. There is a beautiful view of the yacht club. Awesome spot. Would love to visit again.

amazing time
We had an amazing time there. Everything was even better than described. The beach placating and view was amazing, and the place had everything! Even extra sunscreen for the kids!

This cottage was amazing.
We couldn’t have asked for anything more. This cottage was a wonderful place to relax and unwind. The views were spectacular. The amenities made this cottage even more amazing. We enjoyed fires every night and also made s’mores. We played games and took walks to the beach

Great Location
Our family enjoyed this nice home for the weekend. We were able to rent a pontoon boat right across the street.
