COMPLETE REMODEL...opening in June 2019

Enjoy this classic, completely remodeled, A-frame cabin located just outside of Kalkaska on a wooded lot. The cabin is only a short walk to great swimming, fishing, and boating on Manistee Lake. The lake is relatively shallow (around 20 feet at its deepest point) making it especially great for small kids and those who want to wade in the water. The cabin is partially secluded, having only neighbors on one side and woods surrounding. Enjoy the amazing view through the large picture wall. In addition, the kaleidoscope of wood colors inside the home and knotty-pine walls makes this cabin a great find for small families, couples, or small groups of friends. Although there is more privacy than in many cottage areas, this is not a place for events or loud groups. We adhere to a good neighbor policy both at the home and on the beach.

Appreciate the fully equipped kitchen, living room, master bedroom and bathroom on the main floor. Relax while the kids enjoy the loft area equipped with 2 twin beds. The picture wall will lead you outside to a  8’ x 20’ patio area equipped with a grill, chairs and a table. Grab a kayak or two, which are provided for you during your stay, and head out to the center of lake to fish!

Air Conditioning: No air conditioning, but a ceiling fan, and portable fans, along with screened windows will help keep you cool

ATV's: ORV trails are nearby, feel free to bring up the rides!

Animals: Birds, raccoons, deer, squirrels.

Bathroom:  Full bath with tub shower

Beach/Swimming: Cabin is situated just off Manistee Lake, and shares a private lake access with a few other properties. A two minute walk will get you to the shared swimming area. The layout onto the water is grass then water (there is no beach area). The lake is big and shallow; twenty-feet at its deepest. Young kids will have a ball swimming in this shallow open area.

Bedroom Configuration:

              Bedroom #1: main floor – Queen bed

              Bedroom #2: upper loft area – 2 Twin beds which can be converted into a King

Boats:  2 adult and 2 youth kayaks are included in your stay. There is a public boat launch (1 mile away) on southwestern side of lake which also hosts a public beach and picnic area. The cabin itself is located on the east side of the lake.

Cable/Satellite TVs: Smart TV with local channels

Cell phone service: Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile are good, all others are up for debate.

              * Traverse City: 40 minutes (30 miles)
              * Lansing: 2 hours 36 minutes ( 164 miles)
              * Crystal Mountain: 1 hour 18 minutes (56 miles)
              * Mackinac Bridge: 1 hours and 37 minutes away (96 miles)

Dock: There is not a private dock at property, but there is plenty of trailer/truck parking on the lot, so launch your boat in the morning and pull it out in the evening to park in front of Michigan-A-Frame.

Fishing: Good fishing in both the lake and the Manistee River which flows together.

Fishing License: You can purchase your fishing license online at http://www.mdnr-elicense.com/Welcome/Default.aspx

Fishing poles: Guests should bring their own.

Grill: Propane. Propane is provided.

Grocery Store: 10 minute drive to full market in Kalkaska

Internet:  Free Wi-Fi

Linens: Yes, we provide your sheets and linens. Just like a hotel, the beds will be made for you upon arrival. If you are fussy about the thread count of your sheets, just let me know, and I’ll make sure we leave a bed open for your sheets. We have just the basic sheets, pillows, pillow cases and bath towels.

Loved the cottage. It is beautifully designed and decorated. Felt like we were at home with all the essentials available. Kids loved their loft room. Cottage is centrally located to all the area attractions which instead of staying at hotels, we did day trips to Traverse City, Mackinac Bridge, Petoskey, Charlevoix and Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. Two thumbs up!
