Bring your ORV's or Snowmobiles and ride from the front door! With plenty of parking, Kalkaska Getaway allows for truck/trailer combos and multiple cars to park on-site. So, grab your buddies or the kids and fish, swim, or ride until dawn!

Kalkaska Getaway is a 3-level home: Main floor (with GE kitchen appliances), upstairs bedrooms and a walk-out basement that is geared for fun with a shuffleboard table, foosball table and air hockey table for your enjoyment! Although you can barely see the lake in the summertime from this property, you are only a 150 yard walk to the water, where you can swim, lounge around, or launch a kayak.  Manistee Lake is a shallow lake, and from the shore has a gradual slope so it is great for smaller kids (max depth is 16 feet). Kalkaska Getaway is located on the northeast corner of the lake.

Great Place!
This is our second time staying here and it has been the perfect cabin for our family and grandparents. The games in the basement are a hit with the kids and the large table seats us all for meals, puzzles and family games. This last trip was in the winter and the fireplace was a cozy touch as we watched movies at night. Clean, provided a lot of extras, we will be back.

FVR RESPONSE:

Thank you so much for your kind words, Stacey! We are thrilled to hear that the Getaway continues to be the perfect spot for your family and grandparents. It's wonderful to know the games in the basement were a hit, and that the large table worked well for family meals and activities. We're also happy the cozy fireplace added to the winter experience. We always strive to provide extra touches for our guests, and we're so glad you noticed. We can't wait to welcome you back for another memorable stay! -Jessica FVR

Amazing place
We really enjoyed our stay at Kalkaska getaway. This is our first time staying at a vacation rental home and we were all pleasantly surprised. The house is beautiful and has everything you could possibly need. Lots of games to keep you entertained when the weather is bad. The property is beautiful as well as the surrounding area. The kitchen was very well stocked and the neighbors were friendly. Very spacious rooms. We enjoyed spending time around the fire pit. I will definitely be back and I would highly recommend this home to everybody.

We enjoyed the accommodations and the neighborhood. The variety of activities available to us on a stay indoors kind of weekend was amazing. The stairway from upstairs to the main floor caught a few of us off guard. There were a few stumbles off the second from the top step. No injuries. Thank you for the availability of snow shovels and salt. Thanks for accommodating two family pets. The list could go on and on.

FVR RESPONSE
Ah John, the pleasures of staying indoors some weekends!

We hope that your pups enjoyed the weekend as much as the humans did!    We look forward to your return.

This place is a great, bang for your buck stay. It accommodates to a large group fairly comfortably, and has a lot to offer including a super nice fire pit, a beautiful wrap around porch, and indoor games like foosball and air hockey. It also has plenty of water fun stuff like canoes and kayaks, although you will need a car to be able to transport the trailer with the kayaks and canoes just down the road to the public “beach” access. Overall, we loved our stay and would definitely consider going back!

Excellent cabin for large families/groups
This was such a great location and cabin for our family gathering this summer. We really enjoyed the fact that the cabin was within walking distance of the lake and the shallow, sandy bottom was perfect for our little ones! We had an issue with the plumbing upon arrival (faulty hot water intake valve caused some leaking) and Freshwater was great about quickly resolving the issue. We enjoyed the fire pit, greenery, and entertainment options (between movies, puzzles for rainy days, outdoor games like ladder golf, and kayaks/canoes) and the kids enjoyed the porch swings and beach toys that came equipped with the cabin. I have never seen such a well equipped rental! There were even diapers/wipes, toys, books, and baby monitors stocked. We would love to stay again!

Freshwater Vacation Rentals Response
Katie, thanks for this fantastic review!  It makes our day when our guests enjoy the property as much as you did.  We were happy that we could resolve the plumbing issue so readily.  We hope you do come back again!
