Want to be close to Mackinaw, but not pay Mackinaw prices? This updated 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom home right on Lake Huron is just 30 minutes from your Mackinac adventures. The views of the lake are welcoming and tranquil. This rental is ideal for those looking for peace and quiet. Come and take a swim in one of Michigan’s great lakes. Cheboygan restaurants, parks, and shops are just a 10 minute drive. Huron House has an equipped kitchen, balcony, propane grill, outdoor propane firepit and free parking.
In the winter, bring your snowmobiles (truck/trailer parking) and explore the trails nearby.
As an extra layer of security, we do have video cameras in the back and front of the cottage. There are no cameras inside the cottage.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Air Conditioning: There is air conditioning throughout the house. There are also a few ceiling fans in bedrooms, sun porch room and living room.
ATV's: Yes! They are allowed to trailer to the trails. Please do not ride from the property due to close proximity to neighbors.
Animals: Deer, raccoon, squirrel, variety of birds, porcupine, fox.
Bathroom: entry level: Full-bathroom with tub and stall shower
Beach/Swimming: There are 60 steps down to the water (stairway has a rail on both sides). At the end of the steps you will see a small bit of grass (100ft. or so) and then you will hit pebbly/rock and then the water. Water shoes might be helpful in navigating to the water.

Boats: No boats are offered at this lake house due to it being right on Lake Huron
Bugs: Typical Michigan bugs. May flies will manifest late May/early June.
Cell phone service: Verizon works good.

Dock: No dock.
Drinking Water: It is well water. It is soft water. It is filtered. Some guests may choose to bring bottled water for drinking.
Drugs/Smoking/Fireworks: Freshwater does not permit illegal drugs of any kind on the property. Due to the location of the properties, smoking is strongly discouraged around the home and strictly prohibited in the home. Fireworks are prohibited at a Freshwater location for the safety of all persons in and around the property, even if it is legal in that city.
Fire-pit: Propane one on deck and wood burning one on the beach
Fishing: Feel free to explore the Cheboygan State Park (7 miles away). Please be sure to bring your own poles as there are none at this property. Also, in order to fish in Michigan lakes, one is required to hold a fishing license. Click here to purchase your fishing license online.
Grill: There is a propane grill there. Propane is provided.
Grocery Store: There is a grocery store 10 miles in downtown Cheboygan
Handicap Friendly: Due to the steps leading to water, this is not handicap friendly.
Internet: Yes! Satellite internet, downloading is slightly slow.
Linens: Yes, we provide your sheets and linens. Just like a hotel, the beds will be made for you upon arrival. If you are fussy about the thread count of your sheets, just let me know, and I’ll make sure we leave a bed open for your sheets. We have just the basic sheets, pillows, pillow cases and bath towels.
Parking: Two cars fit best or one truck/trailer combo (you would need to back the trailer in and out).
Pets: No pets are allowed on property.
Privacy: You can see neighbors on each side, but there is a bit of forestry between.
Seniors: Be aware there are 60 steps down to the water.
Snowmobiles: a person (resident and nonresident) that operates a snowmobile in Michigan is required to purchase a snowmobile trail permit. The trail permit enables snowmobilers to ride state-designated trails and thousands more miles of public roads and on public lands (where authorized). It is valid for one year, which begins Oct. 1 and ends Sept. 30 of the following year. State-designated trails are open Dec. 1-March 31 and grooming occurs when there is enough snow on the ground. Space: 2 level home, however, the lowest level is being renovated and is off limits to guests.
Televisions: There is one tv in the living room.
Towels: Yes, we provide towels. It's always good to bring extra though.
Washer and dryer: There is a washer and dryer, washer has reservoir (filled on every clean) that holds detergent so you are all set to wash.
