This is what we like to call an Urban Cabin. Buck Schott is located right between the city and the lake. Everything is within walking distance. From restaurants, shops and grocery stores to the lake, you are sure to enjoy the convenience of this cozy cabin. Buck Schott is perfect for those who want to enjoy the lake, but have modern conveniences within steps of the property.
Guests can enjoy the fully equipped kitchen, propane grill, fire-pit, hammock, TV with cable and streaming, and patio area with chairs/table. Two bedrooms and one bathroom are perfect for a small family or two couples who want to enjoy Houghton Lake. Open all year round, bring your ORVs or your snowmobiles to explore all the nearby trails.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Air Conditioning: There is a portable air conditioning unit which can be used.
ATV's: Feel free to bring your ORVs. There are MANY ORV trails nearby. You can jump on the ORV from the front door, barring no rain. Grass is hard to grow back!
Animals: Typical deer, squirrel, birds
Bathroom: 1 full bathroom with shower only
Beach/Swimming: At the end of the road is the lake. It is a 5-minute walk from the cabin. This is where you would place the canoe in the water, swim or launch your own boat. There is not a sandy beach right here, but there is a fantastic Sand-Bar, which many people love!

Living Space: Futon (Double) for use if needed.
Boats: 1 canoe is provided. The canoe can be found on the side of the home. It is about a 5 minute walk to the lake, so you can throw the canoe in the back of a truck, on top of the car, or simply walk it down to the launch at the end of the road.
Cable/Satellite TVs: TV with cable and ROKU. In addition, it has a DVD player with a nice collection of DVDs to choose from.

Dock: No place to dock your boat. You must trailer it in and out.
Fishing: Houghton Lake is said to have good fishing. You are able to fish from shore or jump in the canoe and paddle out a ways!

Grill: At the moment, there is not a grill at the property
Grocery Store: A 2 minute walk away.
Internet: Free Wi-Fi for guests.
Linens: Yes, we provide your sheets and linens. Just like a hotel, the beds will be made for you upon arrival. If you are fussy about the thread count of your sheets, just let me know, and I’ll make sure we leave a bed open for your sheets. We have just the basic sheets, pillows, pillow cases and bath towels.
Parking: 3-4 cars comfortable or 2 truck/trailer combos
Pets: Pets are welcome! Freshwater Vacation Rentals currently charges $50/per pet for your entire stay. Yes, we do accept dogs, yet we do ask that you please clean up after them both inside and outside the cabin. Plus, if you allow them on the furniture, we do ask that you please bring your own linens/blankets for them to sleep on. Just let us know which bed you will be using with them, and we’ll make sure it is ready for your sheets when you arrive. Plus, if the pet hair starts to build, we do ask that you please run the vacuum. Generally, dogs love the water and places to explore. Pet food does tend to attract mice, so vigilance is needed.
Privacy: There is a privacy fence on the side of the home and wetland behind us. Arby’s and Little Caesar’s is very close-by, within sight. You will hear some daily traffic from the cabin. Urban cabin is how it could be best described. You are within walking distance to many restaurants and shops.
Snowmobiles: Great snowmobiling! Jump on right from front door and head off to the lake.
Space: One floor, cozy, 2-bedroom home
Towels: Yes, we provide towels. It's always good to bring extra though.
Washer and dryer: Not on property. Laundry Mat is a few miles away.
Wood: Guests need to purchase their own firewood.
