Due to the long winters and short growing seasons for wineries in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, most establishments are only open for the summer. Make sure you check their websites for openings, closings, and hours!
Mackinaw Trail Winery – Manistique
The Mackinaw Trail Winery in Manistique is one of our favorite wineries in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The tasting rooms sits at the mouth of the Manistique River, with gorgeous waterfront views of Lake Michigan. During the summer there are live music and tastings out on the green space every week!
Northern Sun Winery – Bark River
Northern Sun Winery is home to a host of award-winning wines. They hand-select grapes from their very own vineyards and produce each bottle on the premises. Northern Sun offers tours of their winery as well as tasting room opportunities and a summer concert series on their beautiful estate!
Threefold Vine Winery – Stephenson
The historic bank building sitting in the quaint town of Stephenson is home to the Threefold Vine Winery. This unique tasting room holds a selection of six red wines and one white wine that they produce in their vineyard. You can also sample some of the specialty wines and meads from this UP winery.
Leigh’s Garden Winery – Escanaba
Elegant furnishings, stained glass windows, and dark wood accents give Leigh’s Garden Winery tasting room a refined look. You’ll find a large selection of homegrown white, red, and seasonal wines that you can mix and match with one of their tasting options.
1668 Winery & Lockside Brewery – Sault Ste. Marie
Named after the year that Sault Ste. Marie became a town, this winery in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is a hit with locals and visitors. 1668 Winery & Lockside Brewery is only two blocks away from Soo Locks on the St. Mary’s River and features a collection of white, red, and fruit wines. They also offer a rotating selection of beers and local art showcases!
End of the Road Winery – Germfask
End of the Road Winery sits in the heart of the UP, making it a great place to stop in the middle of a summer day to sample a few of their award-winning wines. With over 20 wines available for tasting at their beautiful and peaceful estate!
Garden Bay Winery – Cooks
Garden Bay Winery is home to an array of internationally acclaimed wines grown and produced at their Upper Peninsula winery. You can sample a variety of fruit wines in addition to their classic grape wine staples in the rustic tasting room off of Highway 2, (20 minutes west of Manistique).
Yooper Winery – Menominee
Yooper Winery is the southernmost winery in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. A wide variety of red, white, and fruit wines are available for sampling at their tasting room just outside of Menominee.
