Houghton Lake Hideaway is a great place to soak in the fun of Northern Michigan. Enjoy this classic cottage along a quiet street, with neighbors a comfortable distance apart on both sides.
Houghton Lake is a popular destination to enjoy summer fun with your family. The lake is shallow; kids and adults alike enjoy wading and exploring the water, sometimes up to 100 feet from from shore. The sandy lake bottom is perfect for swimming and playing games. You are welcome to bring your own boat and use our tie-off poles as you use our dock. Make sure you bring plenty of rope! Although water levels do fluctuate, the level around the dock tends to be 2- 2/12 feet. There is a sandy bottom around the dock. We always try to get the dock in around the 1st of May each year, weather permitting. Also, there are boat hoists available adjacent to the dock for a speed boat and a pontoon boat.
Entering the cottage, you have the choice of turning to the kitchen area, heading directly upstairs to the main sleeping area and convenient 1/2 bath, or to the comfy living room with windows and a door wall overlooking the gorgeous Houghton Lake.
In the kitchen you will find an ideal wooden dining room table with bench seating to have your meals, or play your favorite board game with your family. A great place for an evening puzzle, or to just sit around and talk about the day. We also have cable TV & Wi-Fi!
Continuing past the comfortable, simple kitchen, you can head into the downstairs master bedroom which hosts a sleep number queen bed. It is adjacent to the sole full bathroom-- ideal for a the older relative in your group, or the couple who just wants a little more privacy from the rest of the group.
Remaining on the main floor, you can escape the activities in the kitchen area by relaxing in the living room.
Better than watching the view from behind the door-wall, open the door-wall and step onto the deck. There you can gather the outdoor chairs and sit with you family and friends and soak in the fresh air.
There is nothing better in the summer than sitting around the fire, roasting your marshmallows and telling great stories while you feel the gentle breeze off of Houghton Lake.
